Game 1 Recap: USA vs. GBR

The first game of the London 2012 Paralympic Games started off with a roar. In front of a packed crowd that included Mayor Boris Johnson, Team GB took on the #1-ranked American powerhouse squad. Team GB took advantage of the amazing home team energy by leaping ahead to an early start, forcing two quick turnovers and trapping the USA's high-pointers. At the end of the first quarter, GB was up 13-11. In the second quarter, however, the USA regrouped and came storming back. The Americans' smothering defense -- they had 10 steals during the game -- frustrated the British squad into committing a few errors. By the end of the half, the USA was up 28-23 and firing on all cylinders. Though Great Britain forced a few turnovers in the fourth to narrow the lead slightly, USA soon pulled away again and finished the game up 56-44.
