Australia Wins Gold at the London 2012 Paralympic Games
The Australian Steelers have claimed gold at the London 2012 Paralympics after a dominant 66-51 performance against Canada. After their thrilling one-point victory against the USA to advance to the gold medal game, Canada appeared to have nothing left in the tank. The team started off flat, turning the ball over twice in the first minutes of the game.
Australia features the world's best player, Ryley Batt, supported by heavy-hitter Chris Bond. The Canadians struggled against their smothering defense and found themselves down 34-21 at halftime. This game follows the script of the Australian squad's entire Paralympic experience. No one has been within 10 points of the Steelers for the duration of the tournament and it's clear that other teams don't yet have an answer for the Batman and Robin combo of Ryley Batt and Chris Bond.
Congratulations to the Australian Steelers on their gold medal performance, Canada on their silver medal and the USA on the bronze.
