Rio 2016 Qualification criteria published
Each sport on the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games Programme has established a set of criteria which athletes and teams must meet in order to obtain qualification slots for the Games.
In addition, some sports also offer Bipartite Invitation Commission slots. These are opportunities offered on a discretionary basis by the IPC and the respective International Federation to athletes, who have not had the chance to meet the qualification criteria due to extraordinary circumstances.
Universality Wildcards may also be offered to athletes from NPCs that have been unable to qualify any athletes for the Games.
The Qualification Guide for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games can be found on the IPC website HERE. Note that this document will be updated from time to time. Please check back frequently in order to obtain the most current version of the Guide.
The IPC has forwarded the guide to all National Paralympic Committees. If you have any questions regarding the qualification process for Rio 2016 they can be directed to your NPC.
