Draw System for IWRF 2014 World Championship Announced
Based on the proposal presented to member nations during the three 2013 IWRF Zone Assemblies, IWRF will assign teams to pools for the 2014 IWRF World Championship by a draw system.
The draw will be conducted on the final day of competition at the 2014 Canada Cup Tournament, at a time to be announced prior to the tournament. The draw will be based on the IWRF World Ranking List following the Canada Cup.
Qualified teams will be assigned to three groups:
1. Top Seeds – Qualified teams with the highest four rankings on the IWRF World Ranking List
2. Second Seeds – Qualified teams with the next four highest rankings on the IWRF World Ranking List
3. Third Seeds – Remaining four qualified teams
Teams will be drawn from each group into two pools, with teams assigned to positions in the order they are drawn, starting with Pool A:
Draw 1 – from Top Seeds, to Pool A1
Draw 2 – from Top Seeds, to Pool B1
Draw 3 – from Top Seeds, to Pool A2
Draw 4 – from Top Seeds, to Pool B2
Draw 5 – from Second Seeds, to Pool A3
Draw 6 – from Second Seeds, to Pool B3
Draw 7 – from Second Seeds, to Pool A4
Draw 8 – from Second Seeds, to Pool B4
Draw 9 – from Third Seeds, to Pool A5
Draw 10 – from Third Seeds, to Pool B5
Draw 11 – from Third Seeds, to Pool A6
Draw 12 – from Third Seeds, to Pool B6
Following the draw Denmark, Host Country of the 2014 IWRF World Championship, will be permitted to pick the team from their pool which they will meet in the first match of the competition. The competition schedule will then be prepared by the IWRF Technical Delegate for the World Championship.
