In an effort to ensure athlete representation at all levels of the sport, the IWRF formally established its Athletes Council in 2014. The attached Terms of Reference layout the goals and responsibilities of this important group.

The GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championship will be the largest disability sporting event to be held in Australia since the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.
Teams were drawn in pairs based on their current IWRF World Ranking, with Host Country Germany choosing their pool at the end of the draw.
